For the beginning of our first week, our group needed to finalize a sketch of our catapult which we would use as a model for the building phase. We decided to create an incredibly unique catapult; one that I had not seen on the internet. Because we wanted to strictly use an inner tube for the tension that will cause our catapult arm to shoot outwards, we are going to build a triangular based cross beam that will stop the arm at different angles. To do so, we are going to enable the cross beam to unscrew and re-screw in another position. We also decided to use butterfly bolts in order to attach small pieces of wood that can retract to place the entire catapult at a certain angle. This will allow for the catapult to be placed in correct positions for the height, distance, and target challenges. Our group is confident in the design we chose because we all agreed that it will go above and beyond the project expectations.
